Serverless backend development on AWS

APIs and background jobs on AWS that scale with use and cost little when idle.

Start a conversation

A backend should be boring: it answers quickly, it survives a bad day, and the bill makes sense. Serverless gets a small team there without a server to look after.

Every product we run sits on AWS Lambda with managed data stores. We build client backends the same way and write down each choice.

01Deliverables

What you get

  • A Python API on AWS Lambda, with streaming where the product needs it
  • A data layer on PostgreSQL, DynamoDB or Redis, chosen for the workload
  • Queues and scheduled jobs for background work
  • Infrastructure as code, so every environment can be rebuilt
  • A CI/CD pipeline with tests before every deploy
  • Monitoring, alerts and a cost review

02Process

How we work

One loop for our products and for client work. Every step is written down.

  1. Specify

We write down the load, the data, the integrations and what must never go down.

  2. Plan

We choose services for the workload and write down why.

  3. Build and review

Each endpoint and job is built test-first and checked by a separate reviewer.

  4. Verify

We load-test the main paths and check alerts before traffic moves over.

04FAQ

Questions

What is a serverless backend?
A backend that runs on managed services such as AWS Lambda. You do not run servers, and you pay for what is used.
Can you move an existing backend to AWS?
Yes. We map what you run today, move it in stages and keep the old system live until the new one is proven.
When is serverless the wrong choice?
Steady heavy load, long-running jobs or special hardware. In those cases we use containers and say so up front.
Where do you run this yourselves?
One FastAPI backend on Lambda serves Cabin and a second live product. QuesMo and RiseRole run on Lambda, DynamoDB and queue workers.
